Due to a strong solar flare from the sun, you may actually be able to see the aurora borealis from your own backyard tonight, Friday January 10 through early Saturday morning, with the best time being mid-evening to late night, though the first sightings may be shortly after it begins to get dark.
You’re more likely to see the show if you’re in a dark area away from city lights, so get yourself to the darkest place you can. The aurora will be visible towards the north pole, so look that way. The northern lights will be most visible between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
