I know its only the day after Halloween, but its never too soon to plan ahead. Once your kids have had their fill (or at least you think they have) Halloween candy buy back programs are great ways to donate “some” of it.
How does Halloween Candy Buy Back work?
If you’re swimming in Twix, Twizzlers, and Tootsie Pops, consider “selling” some of your extra candy to an area dentist who will send it Operation Gratitude for our troops stationed overseas. You’ll be “paid” with cash, coupons, toothbrushes, or more. Here’s where you can enter your zip code to find a participating dentist. Note, currently, the nearest to Boston is in Brookline, but there’s plenty in the suburbs.
I recommend calling first to find out when (and if) they are still accepting candy. (Some dentists may have stopped participating but not removed themselves from the list.)
Getting a taste of home is great for our troops’ morale and getting rid of a bit of your extra candy is great for you and your kids’ teeth. :o)
