Yup, if you bought milk–or any dairy products– between 2003 and now, and live in MA, along with 15 other states, the Dairy Industry is ready to give you money.
Why is the dairy industry giving money to anyone who bought milk?
They recently settled a lawsuit called the Fresh Milk Products Price-Fixing Class Action Lawsuit. Its really a sad story. The lawsuit found that major dairy producers killed thousands of cows to alter the milk supply and raise prices.
What they did can’t be changed, but this lawsuit can help pay you back a bit for any financial excess you were charged. Of course the amount of money you’ll actually get depends on how many people submit a claim, but they’re thinking it’ll be around $15.
If you bought milk, cream, sour cream, yogurt, cheese, etc. since 2003 you can submit your claim. You don’t need to provide proof, but when you enter your claim, you’re declaring under penalty of perjury that the information you’re providing is true.
All you need to do to submit your claim is enter your name and email here. The deadline for entering your claim is January 31, 2017. You’ll receive a confirmation email letting you know you’ll be notified after the deadline of how to obtain your money.
