Just in time for the peak summer driving season, gas prices are heading upward – hovering currently around $3.00 a gallon for regular unleaded gas. Luckily, there are plenty of reward programs available to help drivers spend a bit less every time they hit the gas pumps. While saving 5-to-10 cents a gallon may not seem like much, the cumulative savings can add up over time. Consider too, that the time and effort required to sign up for many rewards programs is minimal, and it becomes an easy way to save money. Below are some of the Boston-area gas stations that offer gas reward programs.
Local Stations with Rewards Programs
- Alltown. With numerous locations in the greater Boston area (including on the Cape), it may be worthwhile to sign up for the Alltown Advantage program. Earn and redeem rewards by using Alltown’s new mobile app to make purchases in-store and at the pump. For every gallon of fuel and every dollar spent in-store, earn 2 points, and get 10 cents off per gallon or $1.00 off a purchase with every 100 points earned. Accumulate points for more savings – 500 points is good for 50 cents off per gallon or $5.00 off in-store purchases. Learn more about it here.
- Cumberland Farms. Ever drive by a Cumberland Farms gas station sign and see two prices per gallon advertised? There’s the regular price and then the SmartPay price. Sign up for SmartPay (it’s free) and save 10 cents on every gallon of gas. With a mobile phone, download the SmartPay app and start saving. For more information, visit here.
- Irving. Participating locations offer Irving Rewards which offers a number of ways to save on gas. At the pump, save 10 cents per gallon with every 50 gallons purchased. Or if you spend $50 in the store, take 5 cents off per gallon. Use an Irving Debit Pay card, and save up to 10 cents per gallon. And home heating customers can save 5 cents on every gallon of gas when with every 50 gallons of home heating fuel delivered by Irving Energy. For more information, visit here.
- Shell. In partnership with Stop & Shop supermarkets, Shell Fuel Rewards offers drivers 10 cents off every gallon for every 100 points earned by buying groceries. Keep in mind that Stop & Shop also offers participants coupons redeemable for gas points, and the discounts on gas can pile up quickly. Other ways to save at Shell: take an additional 15 cents off per gallon for every $100 spent at participating grocery stores with a linked Mastercard; save 10 cents per gallon for every $50 spent at participating dining establishments; and save 5 cents per gallon for every $50 spent on travel and online shopping, respectively.
