Chile Peppers Tasting Event

If food is never hot enough for you, head to your nearest Wegman’s where they’re dishing out the heat. You can try some of the world’s tastiest and spiciest chile peppers–New Mexican Hatch Chiles.

Authentic New Mexican Hatch Chiles are a popular chile in the Southwest.  They get their name from their native growing area in Hatch, New Mexico. Chile experts claim the intense sunlight and cool nights where they grow create a uniquely flavored chile. Hatch Chiles have a meaty flesh and mild-medium heat making them ideal for use in Chile Con Queso, Chile Rellenos, and Chile Verde. But,  put on your creative cooking cap…try roasting and using them in salads, soups, stews, dips, and sandwiches.

Wegman’s grocery stores first opened in 1916 in Upstate New York as the Rochester Fruit & Vegetable Company. As the grocery store chain as grown over the last 100 years, they’ve launched many “firsts” in the supermarket industry including the first “large grocery store” and frozen food. While they were an upstate NY store only for years, there are no more than 90 stores in six states, including four in Massachusetts with two more in the works.
